Chris and Terri Bonnema formed The Bonnema Brewing Company May of 1995 which became incorporated the following year in July. The Bonnemas spent two "grueling" months researching what it meant to run a successful brewery/restaurant. Their journey took them to 50 different microbreweries around the country-tasting, eating, and tasting some more. Not a bad life!
